Only upload material you own or are permitted to use. Buying a song, photograph or video does not necessarily give permission to copy it into a tribute film.
2. Privacy, dignity and consent
Consider the privacy and dignity of living people shown or identified in photographs, video, audio or stories. Obtain consent where reasonably required, especially for children, health information, private conversations, family conflict or sensitive cultural material.
Do not provide account passwords, financial details, government identifiers or information that is not needed for the tribute.
3. Music and other copyright material
You may select music from the Life & Memories curated library under the licence supplied with the service. Curated tracks may be used only within the delivered tribute and must not be extracted or redistributed.
You may upload a personal recording or other track only if you have permission from all relevant rights holders for its reproduction, editing, synchronisation and online or event use. A streaming subscription or personal copy of a commercial recording does not by itself establish those rights. We may ask for evidence, mute or replace a track, or decline material where rights are unclear.
The same principle applies to professional photographs, poems, readings, artwork, broadcasts and third-party video.
4. Your written words
Life & Memories keeps names, captions and stories as entered. The purchaser must review spelling, meaning, names, macrons, dialect and cultural appropriateness before approval. For important te reo Māori, community, religious or ceremonial wording, consider review by a fluent speaker or appropriate cultural adviser.
5. Upload formats and limits
At launch, individual photographs may be up to 20 MB in JPEG or PNG format. Individual video clips may be up to 250 MB in MP4 or MOV format. The total upload allowance is 800 MB for Life and Memories and 3 GB for Life and Memories Plus.
These limits help keep uploads reliable, protect the service from misuse and support timely production. We may reject unsupported, duplicate, corrupted, unsafe or unusually large files. Limits may be reasonably adjusted where required for security, technical compatibility or service performance, without reducing the stated number of photographs or video clips included in a purchased package.
6. Content we cannot accept
Do not submit content that is unlawful; threatening or harassing; exploitative; deliberately false and harmful; invasive of privacy; sexually exploitative; discriminatory; malicious; infected with harmful code; or supplied without the necessary rights or authority.
Life & Memories is not a forum for resolving family disputes. We may pause a project while authority, consent, privacy or ownership concerns are reviewed.
7. Review, moderation and concerns
We do not routinely verify every statement or licence. We may review, restrict, remove or decline content where we reasonably believe it breaches this policy, the law or another person’s rights. Where practical, we will explain the concern and allow replacement material.
To report a copyright, privacy or consent concern, email info@lifeandmemories.co.nz with the tribute or order reference, the material concerned, your relationship to it and the action requested. We may temporarily restrict access while investigating.
